The Nikon P5100

Yes folks, you heard it right, the time has finally come. I finally grew a pair and made the plunge for a new camera and by the title it was indeed the Nikon....P....5100! I got this camera because Danny from dannysdigiscoping had me at gunpoint to hit the bid button on eBay!...oh and the other reason that it is meant to be one of the best cameras for digiscoping.

Do I like it? pfft what do I look like a guy who can give you a sensible and well constructed opinion? The truth is I havent really gone and taken it for a test run but the good news is, it works and I have got it to work with my kit with zero vignetting! Absolutely marvelous.

I know now your'e thinking "why bother making a post if you aint giving us anything TheBirdGarden?" but oh that is where you are wrong, I have taken some test shots to show you some image quality control (although im not entirely sure how to use manual so your stuck with auto mode with me)....here is a picture of a beanie lizard and a 100% crop I took a few days ago

After these I was curious how it worked on a bird! Yes those things I tend to take pictures of. So today I wrapped up warm, put on my game face and headed out in the garden fighting whatever the elements threw at me!...but as my luck goes no birds came and instead I got a cat and not just any cat, a spoilt rotten house cat that is probably after my birds.....o the fun to see them.

I Mush, You Mush, We All Mush For, Wait......

Told you I'd be back and I'm pretty sure I didn't say a date when on my last post.....I could read back over it but its effort. I haven't got any bird pictures today, I know I know I hear you all moaning in the cheap seats! I have got something else for you instead.

A long time ago in the year.....(checks calender) 2009..ish. I set out to try and make the garden as biodiverse as I can, to make it so natural things can grow naturally, food can grow without my interference and that animals can eventually come for the natural food on offer and not the food I supply.

Turns out I have actually made progress on my goal, I am quite surprised about that as I suck at goal achieving in the long run and so for the first time ever! The garden has grown mushrooms. We did have one grow in the summer, im no mushroom expert but I'm pretty sure mushrooms tend to grow in wet conditions. Now that winter has come so have the mushrooms. I am told they are edible and they do look delicious. Next time I will be giving an announcement to try and expand the way this site is helping you fine people get into the hobby of digiscoping.

I'm Back! Possibly.

After an unofficial hiatus I bring you another post! *cheers* thank you one person in the background. My reason for being absent? who knows, well i do but it be none of your business. I am doing this post to mark my possible return and to prove that the site is not dead because I have noticed the outrage that has occurred during my absence! there have been riots in libya and Gaddaffi was captured and killed. Clearly this is all my fault for not keeping you up to date with my bird outings.

I am gonna try and plan to get back out there taking pictures when my back is a little better but at the same time i did not want to make another post without posting one picture as a treat for your eyes, so i decided to go digging and look for something that would suffice and this will have to do. Comes with a brilliant description as in I don't remember what bird it was nor do i remember what part of the world it comes from but I do remember where I took it! and I took it at Slimbridge WWT and aww isn't it cute? Personally I don't like it as it isn't framed properly! yuck how could I!

If it does turn out i am a lazy good for nothing and i'm not constantly updating head your butts over to The Big Box She is a very close friend of mine and her almost weekly amusings would keep you entertained it is up to you to work out if she is clincally sane or not.

Announcement for the Masses!

Masses might be stretching it a little but hey, I don't see it bothering anyone.

I have two announcments to make and lets start with the biggy. My friend over at DannysDigiscoping has only got an article published on digiscoping in a brand spanking new magazine called "GO Birdwatching" and the next issues featuring his article is out tomorrow (06 August) I suggest you getting your lovely asses down to your local WHSmith to buy yourself a copy. You won't just be supporting Danny but a new magazine which by tomorrow will be on its second issue! here is a picture for you to get your eyes used to what you should be getting.

The second announcment is that the store page is now up, it is not much to look at at the moment but in some time I will spruce it up pimp my ride style but in the mean time feel free to go to the store page and click the link that will head you to another store. Why I like that you ask? Well I get hits and that just makes me feel special, plus it gives Danny a reason to listen to me still

Should finish off with a catchphrase, hmm ah well just see you next time where I may bring you photos, who knows I am welsh after all.
